Just recently I visited New York City this past October and I have to say, I loved it. The city is tremendously fun to explore with the right people and there are just amazing possibilities to eat at just about every street corner you will find yourself at. During my time being there, I had the great pleasure to be surrounded by many great photographers and artists like my sister (@sophiesvob), Mitchell Phun (@mitchellphun), Kevin Wonka (@kevinwonka), Gareth Pon (@garethpon), Timtothewild (@timtothewild) and so many more. Check out their Instagram accounts as described in by each name.
As I was planning my just about 5 days in the Concrete Jungle, I tried to get as much exploring in as humanly possible. And it was great. This post is a little Reminiszenz as to what you can do, when planning a short week in NYC. This is each day
DAY 1 - Arrival
The day I arrived in NYC was a Monday. We came with a Delta flight all the way from Bermuda and arrived in the early afternoon. If you also arrive around this time, I highly recommend getting a good driver, who gets you to the city quickly because for some reason we took forever. I mean literally hours. The smartest and most relaxing thing to do when you arrive is to simply go shopping and get all of those nifty threads and garments you were longing so long to get. This is a perfect time to do so, since the sun will be soon setting and you get all of the shopping out of the way and can then focus on exploring the rest of your time in NYC. FOOD TIP --> ZUMA
DAY 2 - Exploring
So exploring. This is always my favourite, fun and entertaining part of every trip. One of my good friends (Mitchell Phun) was hanging out with me all week. He is a complete insider regarding New York and showed me the best spots. Best explores can most definitely be done in West Village. It is an amazing part of town and just so scenic. My secret tip would most definitely be Gay Street and the area surrounding it. FOOD TIP --> Five Guys for Burgers and then watch a movie with good company. MOVIE TIP --> The Martian.
DAY 3 - Rooftops & Chill
By the third day, you should already be tired. But you still need to get going. This city literally never sleeps. Starting the day off with a Central Park Explore and checking out Bathesda Fountain suits the day best. Get those shots down and continue onwards. I had the extreme privilege of getting access to this rooftop you see above because of Mitchell. The shots we got there were insane. Just so so good. Right afterwards be sure to check out B&H Photo. It's like heaven for any photographer out there. They have everything. FOOD TIP --> Nobu 57.
DAY 4 - Helicopter
Experiencing a helicopter ride after getting an insane breakfast at Bubby's was one of the most craziest experiences ever. And the doors were off as well. Shooting at 120mph winds is difficult and even more so when you can barely keep your eyes open. Be sure to head over to NYonAir. The guys there are the best. Famous YouTubers like FunForLouis, Casey Neistat and so many more are their ambassadors. Such a great time. FOOD TIP --> Omakasa
DAY 5 - Shopping and Cool Down
The night before you depart be sure to get in a Brooklyn Bridge sunset with friends. The scenery is just mind blowing and your shots are going to look just so much better with the light coming in and the Manhatten skyline in the background. This is a shot of Timtothewild. He is such an inspiration to me and I loved hanging out with him. Check out his YouTube Channel. FOOD TIP --> For Breakfast be sure to check out Bluestone in West Village.
